Where do I go to breed?

The day care center on Island 4. In order to reach Island 4 you
must have done the following:
*Logged over 60 different Pokemon in your Pokedex
*Battled the E4 and become the Pokemon Champion.
*Received the National Dex from Professor Oak.
*Retrieved the Ruby for Celio from Mt. Ember.

How do I breed.

Place 2 pokemon, 1 male and 1 female, from the same egg
group into the center. When breeding 2 different kinds of
Pokemon, the result will always be the same Pokemon as
the female. Example: Male Treecko + Female Mudkip =
Mudkip. However, there is one exception to this rule, and
that is Ditto. Ditto can breed with any Pokemon, except for
those in the "none" egg group, and the resulting egg will be
that of the other Pokemon. Example: Male Charmander + Ditto
= Charmander.



How do I get an egg?

If the Pokemon are from the same egg group, you will always
get an egg. The time it takes for them to make that egg varies.
When I say time I am referring to the number of steps you take
after dropping off the Pokemon. So if you stand still outside
the Day Care just waiting, you will never get an egg.



How long do I have to wait until my Pokemon have an egg?

Talk to the man standing just inside the fence. He will make
1 of 4 comments:
-"They're very friendly"
*It will take only a few steps before the egg is ready.
-"The two seem to get along"
*It will take a quite a few steps.
-"The two don't seem to get along"
*It will take a great deal of steps.
-"The two prefer to play with other Pokemon"
*Incompatible egg groups. You will never get an egg.

You will know when you egg is ready because the old man
will step outside of the fence. Talk to him with only 5 Pokemon
or less in your party to receive the egg.



Help! I can't get Azirill or Wynaut!

There are 2 special Pokemon, Marill and Wobbuffett, that
won't product babys unless on of them are holding a special
item. For Marill, it must be Sea Incense and for Wobbuffett it
is Lax Incense.



I have my egg, now how do I hatch it?

Eggs hatch after you have walked a certain amount of steps.
You can either leave the egg in your party and continue on
your journey, or you can force hatch it by hopping on your
bike and flying around. I usually ride in this loop: start at the
top of the cycling road, go down to Fuchsia City, then up to
Lavender Town, through Saffron and Celadon City, and back
to the cycling road.

Inherited moves
While the female Pokemon determines what type of Pokemon
will hatch, the male determines what moves they will know.
Egg moves are moves that a Pokemon would not normally
know on its own, but is passed down to if from the father.
Example: Altaria can learn Dragon Dance, but Bagon can't.
Pair a Male Altaria with Dragon Dance with a female Bagon
and you will get a Bagon that knows Dragon Dance. By this
same method, TMs and HMs can be taught to the baby.



Why should I breed if I can catch that Pokemon in the wild?

Each and every Pokemon is different. Catch 2 identical
Pokemon and compare their stats. There will be differences.
Breeding gives you several advantages. For starters it allows
you to raise the Pokemon from level 5. Lets say I train 2 Zubats
one from level 5 and one that I caught at level 20. By the time they
reach level 100, the one I trained from level 5 will always have
slightly better stats. Second advantage to breeding is you
get to chooses what personality you Pokemon is, allowing
you to choose which stats raise quicker on that Pokemon.
Third and final reason is you can choose which trait a
Pokemon has if it can learn more then one. Example: Rhyhorn
can either have the trait Lightning Rod or Rock Head. You can
keep on breeding Rhyhorns until you get one with the desired
trait.

Q: What pokemon do i use so that the outcome is the same
as the male one?

A: Ditto's greatest quality is that it can breed with any Pokemon,
with the exception of Pokemon belonging to the "None" egg group,
and cause the resulting egg to contain the other Pokemon. This
way you can breed more of a Pokemon even if it is a male.
